On the years where it appears I can fit it in, I love to volunteer at the registration booth, and it's been great that my mom often volunteers with me. In 2015, we both volunteered for shifts at the registration and materials pick up tables. But in 2015, I also had the opportunity to volunteer for one of my favorite tasks ever. I was able to help decorate the survivor tent!
The survivor tent is a HUGE tent, and it had $70,000 worth of donated fresh cut flowers. Volunteers like ME had the honor of decorating the tent with these amazing flowers! When we were done, it was absolutely gorgeous!
On race day at the end of the race, all survivors are invited to come into the survivor tent, where they are celebrated and presented with a fresh floral bouquet to take home for Mother's Day. (The Twin Cities Race for the Cure is always held on Mother's Day morning). It is truly a heartwarming way to honor these women who have been through so much!
